Going into the weekend already with two key injuries to their club, the Hollydell Hurricanes split two NJYHL contests this weekend before the injury bug bit them again. With Forward Nick Urban (Wrist) and Zach Burkhardt (Groin) watching the weekend from the sidelines, the Canes took to the highway to play an upstart Brick Ice Hockey Club. Despite getting out to a quick 3-1 lead, the Canes struggled to find their way in the 2nd and 3rd periods to only end up dropping the game to a score of 6-5. Matt Grosmick (7 G, 2 A) continued his scoring resurgence with a Hat Trick while contributing goals were offered by Norm Angel (13 G, 7 A) and Mike Davis (11 G, 4 A.) Max Ramos (5-2) battling the flu stopped 15 of 21 shots in the loss. Sunday gave the Canes the first time in almost a month to play at home and they responded with a convincing 7-4 win over the Woodbridge Wolfpack. Matt Grosmick (11 G, 2A) picked up where he left off Saturday, scoring 4 goals in the contest. John Garbarino (10 G, 7A), scored a pair of goals while Gary Stith (5G, 7A) scored another. Jerome Werkhesier (4G, 4A) contributed 3 assists in the victory, while Matthew Asis (5 G, 8 A), Matthew Bierman (6 A), and Kyle Busk (5 A)each added another. Max Ramos (6-2) turned away 22 of 26 Wolfpack shots. The Canes faced another setback however when John Garbarino took a hit in the middle of the 3rd period on Sunday, resulting in a broken arm, which will sideline the team’s second leading scorer for 8-12 weeks. Next weekend, the Canes face two more NJYHL games against the Protect Stars and another contest against the Brick Ice Hockey Club. The Canes record stands at 8-4-1, 3-4-2 in the NJYHL. Good luck the Hurricanes Bantam Bs this coming weekend.

It was a Jekyll & Hyde weekend for the Hurricanes Bantam B team this past weekend as they went on road for two critical NJYHL games vs. the Red Bank Generals and the Princeton Tigers.
Saturday saw our Canes get thrashed by the Generals 8-2. Despite getting off to a quick 1-0 lead thanks to Matt Grosmicks second goal of the season, the Canes then proceeded to play out of sync and struggle to a 4-2 score at the close of the first period. Things did not much improve for our hometown Canes as they ended losing by 6. John Garbarino also scored his fifth goal of the year. Zach Burkhardt (2-2-1) took the loss. The Generals out shot the Canes 31-17.
The Canes then traveled to Princeton to take on the Princeton Tigers, a team the Canes gad defeated 5-1 in NJYHL play earlier this season. Sunday, the Canes came out to a quick start paced by three goals in the first period. The final was a 10-0 mercy win over the Tigers. Michael Davis (10) and John Garbarino (8) each had hat tricks while Matt Grosmick (4) and Norm Angel (12) each contributed 2 goals a piece. Assists were plentiful as Gary Stith had 4 assists, Josh Pilatsky and Norm Angel contributed 2 assists, and Jerome Werkhesier and Matt Grosmick kicked in 1 each. Max Ramos (5-1) stopped all 17 shots he faced.
The Hurricanes (7-3-1/2-3-1 NJYHL) are tied for fifth place in the NJYHL and just 1 point out of second.
Next weekend pits the Canes against Brick and the Woodbridge Wolfpack in two NJYHL games. Good luck to the Hurricanes this coming weekend.

With two match ups this past weekend against the Flyers
Youth and the Vineland Black Bears, the Hollydell Hurricanes returned to ice and
improved their record to 6-2-1 for the season and 1-2-1 in NJYHL play.
Saturday’s contest pitted the Canes versus their NJYHL rival, the Flyers
Youth. A hard fought effort resulted in a 3-3 tie and 1 point the NJYHL

the young season, while Josh Pilatsky added another for his third goal of the
year. Tyler Ruger added an assist. Zach Burkhardt (2-1-1) stopped 27 of 30
shots, including a crucial Penalty Shot, to secure the tie. The Canes
visited the Vineland Black Bears on Sunday in non-league action and
skated away with a 5-1 victory. Scoring was well-balanced with
Matthew Asis scoring 2 goals (5) and John Garbarino (4), Jerome
Werkhesier (4), and Norm Angel (10) each adding a goal apiece. Max
Ramos turned away 16 shots in the victory and record his 4th
win of the season (4-1.). This coming

the Canes, with additional goals scored by Norm Angel and Jerome Werkheiser. Max
Ramos stopped 21 of 27 shots to take his first lose of the year. Next up is a

I would like to start by saying between the Hollydell Hurricanes
Board of directors and the rink that they have shown nothing but A+
service to myself and my team. Scherer's Pro shop has shown nothing but
the best service and quality. I urge anyone who is looking for a
Pro Shop or a rink to play, that you stop by the Hollydell Ice Arena.
